Our Scout Troop headed off to Great Tower campsite in the Lake District for a week long Summer camp this year, full of fun, challenges and friendship.

We went to the RAF museum. We saw lots of planes and helicopters used by the RAF. There were also many disabled missiles that would have been loaded on the planes. Some planes had connectors so they could refuel in mid-air from bigger planes. We went inside part of a helicopter and went in an immersive 4D Red Arrows experience.

Our Scouts celebrated the end of term in traditional fashion, with a group campfire (complete with Christmas party hats!)

Our scouts started the new term in style, joining hundreds of other Scouts from across the country in a real life game of Monopoly. They may not have managed to build hotels on Mayfair but they did make it to most of the locations on the board and completed a few challenges along the way. Well done everyone!

As another fantastic year of scouting drew to a close, we still had some more fun activities up our sleeves. Beavers played human Hungry Hippos, while Scouts (and a few older Cubs) took to the water for paddleboarding, canoeing and kayaking.
We hope you all enjoy the summer break and look forward to welcoming you back in the second week of the school term in September.

To celebrate 100 years of Scouting at 2nd Tonbridge our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Leaders all joined together for a weekend camp full of fun, friendship and remarkably good weather! Highlights included songs around the campfire, the Great Scout Bake Off, archery and water bottle rockets. Huge thanks to everyone who helped out, baked a cake, or just made sure their child came prepared for anything.

Our Scouts recently had a go at cooking on our new firepits – classic sausages and toasted marshmallows for all!

At the start of half term our cubs departed for three nights in the Ashdown Forest at Broadstone Warren scout activity centre. They had a fantastic time despite some difficult weather conditions!

After last year’s washout, it was our privilege to be invited to lead the St George’s Day Parade this year. We had a great turn out and all the young people did us proud, both in the colour party and as part of our Group. As Parade Commander Ali said afterwards “they are a credit to their leaders and 2nd Tonbridge.”
We were also very proud of our own Maureen Barden (better know for many years as Akela) who was presented with an award for thirty years of service to Scouting.
Thanks also to all the leaders who made the parade possible, and to the parents and families who turned out to support us.

Our Cubs enjoyed a fun filled morning at Cart Wood – they threw tomahawks, hung the bird boxes they made earlier in the term, and went on a bug hunt. They were also treated to some yummy smores!
