Last week our Scouts headed off to Lower Grange Farm (Kent Scouts HQ) for an evening of climbing. We were very impressed with their skills and their confidence on some challenging walls. Well done everyone!  

Our Scouts recently had a go at building camp gadgets in teams, learning new knots and lashings along the way. They certainly made use of the principle “if you can’t tie knots, tie lots”!

As always 2nd Tonbridge had an excellent turnout for the Remembrance Day parade and service this year, and we were very proud of everyone who came to commemorate this important occasion. During the week our younger members spent their meetings learning more about the importance of Remembrance Day, creating some lovely poppies and poems.  

Our Beavers were lucky enough to be visited by Naomi, an Explorer who took part in the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea earlier this year. She kindly spoke to us about her experiences, and shared some games and activities with us. Fingers crossed some of these Beavers will be making their own way to

Tomahawk throwing, den building and pizzas were enjoyed by our Cubs on their recent visit to Cart Wood.

Our new Cubs were formally “invested” into the Cub pack this week, and received their group scarf, woggle and badges. Well done everyone, we look forward to enjoying lots of adventures with you all!

Our Scouts have been working on their scouting basics this half term: learning about map reading (including some nighttime orienteering), a visit from a mountain rescue expert, first aid, and experimenting with different types of outdoor cooking equipment. This week, making the most of the hot weather, our Cubs created and tested boats powered by elastic paddle or sails. They also squeezed in a bit of knot practice!

Welcome to a new year of Scouting adventures at 2nd Tonbridge! Our Cubs started out on Monday with a range of team building activities as they got to know the new members. We’re especially impressed with their cup stacking tower!

Two of our Cubs joined 140 others from around the UK last weekend for a four day camp at Gilwell Park, the original home of Scouting. They took part in adventurous activities and met young leaders from around the world who taught them a little about Scouting in places as far afield as Mexico, Australia
